The Shack by author Paul Young has sold over 20 million copies since its release in 2007. Now, two weeks after The Shack movie debuted on March 3, 2017, it has already grossed over $35 million dollars.
Well-known professing Christians such as Roma Downey, producer of The Bible mini-series and Son of God movie, said she “loved it.” Chip Gaines of the popular reality show, Fixer Upper, said the film “was conceived for such a time of this … and I think you might just leave changed.” To which wife Joanna responded, “Amen.”
Many who have read the book or seen the movie say they “see God in a fresh way.” Others say The Shack blasphemously portrays the Trinity and is full of false doctrine. Still others don’t seem to care, noting that they watched the movie because it’s “a great conversation starter with unbelievers.”
