Guest: Gregg Frazer, author, The Religious Beliefs of America’s Founders
Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human institution, whether to a king as the one in authority, or to governors as sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and the praise of those who do right. 1 Peter 2:13-14
Last week on the program, our guest Dr. Gregg Frazer, professor of history and political studies at The Master’s College, said that Scripture does not command Christians to be patriotic but rather to hold their citizenship in heaven as preeminent. That doesn’t mean we can’t cherish certain aspects of our country that are honoring to God; it’s just that God always comes far above country.
This week, Dr. Frazer will join us to discuss how Christians should respond to a government that is increasingly hostile to our beliefs and practices. Do passages in Romans 13 and 1 Peter 2 on submission to government mean that Christians must just roll over and take whatever unjust treatment government metes out? And what about the born-again, Bible-believing Christians during the Revolutionary War—were they wrong to take up arms against the British government?
Join us this weekend as we discussed the thorny issue of civil disobedience in terms of when to submit and when to resist.
