This week, U.S. Congresswoman (NY-14) Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the 29-year-old self-described Democratic Socialist, released the framework for a “Green New Deal” which includes:
- “meeting 100 percent of the power demand through clean, renewable, and zero-emission energy sources”
- “upgrading all existing buildings” in the country for energy efficiency
- “eliminate pollution and greenhouse gas emissions” from farms
- “overhauling transportation systems” to reduce emissions — including expanding electric car manufacturing, building “charging stations everywhere,” and expanding high-speed rail to “a scale where air travel stops becoming necessary”
A guaranteed job “with a family-sustaining wage, adequate family and medical leave, paid vacations and retirement security” for every American

Of course the original New Deal in 1933 by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt instituted massive taxpayer-funded projects and “permanently changed the federal government’s relationship to U.S. citizens” (History.com)
With government mandates and expenditures, the Green New Deal is an attempt to do the same—for government to gain control over every area of your life through promising health, safety and security.
