I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ. For if one comes and preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted, you bear this beautifully. 2 Corinthians 11:3-4
It seems there’s always a “movement” afoot seducing the Evangelical church in ways that lead “minds …astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ” (2 Cor. 11:3).
Remember the Emergent Movement that was popular in the early 2000s that wooed Evangelicals to change their message and methods to be “relevant” to our changing culture? As one website described the Emerging Church: “experience over reason, subjectivity over objectivity, spirituality over religion, images over words, outward over inward, feelings over truth.”
Today, there is another movement that threatens to negatively influence the Evangelical church, and it’s even more insidious because it’s coming from trusted Evangelical organizations and leaders. We’re calling it the “Woke Movement” because “woke” is the term its purveyors use to describe their awakening to issues of race, gender, and sexuality.
Phil Johnson will be our guest this weekend on The Christian Worldview to explain this movement. He is the executive director of the Grace To You radio broadcast, a conference speaker, and recently wrote a column entitled “The Rise of Woker-Than-Thou Evangelicalism.”
Please be informed of this movement and tune in to The Christian Worldview this weekend.
