GUEST: Michael Perkins

The last two weeks on The Christian Worldview, we have dived into an important and oft-debated question: How and when did the universe begin?

We discussed four prominent positions:

  • Young Earth Creationism: that God created everything in six, 24-hour days about 6000 years ago.
  • Old Earth Evolution: that nothing became something and evolved into everything over millions and billions of years.
  • Evolutionary Creationism (a.k.a. Theistic Evolution): that God used evolution over millions of years, with humans having common ancestry with animals.
  • Gap and Day Age Creationism: that God created everything over thousands or millions of years.

Full disclosure: We at The Christian Worldview hold the Young Earth Creationism view, believing that Scripture, geological evidence, and reason lead to this position. That being said, we acknowledge that each position presupposes certain things and requires faith, because the origin of the universe wasn’t observed and can’t be reproduced.

Many questions arise when it comes to origins. Ken Ham, founder of Answers in Genesis, and Bodie Hodge, author and speaker at the same organization, answered many questions the last two programs.

But this weekend, it will be your turn to ask questions about the how and when of origins. We will devote the entire hour to listener emails and phone calls with our guest Dr. Tommy Mitchell (MD) of Answers in Genesis.

No matter which position you hold, you are encouraged to call into the studio (1-877-655-6755) between 8-9am CT on Saturday, or preferably, to email your question in advance on Friday, Jan. 26 to feedback@TheChristianWorldview.org.
